STEP 1 — SOFTEN

1. Apply Step 1
Apply an even layer through the required processing area. Make sure the product is making full contact with the lashes without overloading.

2. Protect the Lash Tips
Fine and delicate lash tips process much faster than the stronger base of the lash.

If Step 1 is applied toward the tips, do not leave product on the tips for longer than 1 minute. Remove it from the tips while allowing the stronger areas to continue processing if required.

3. Process the Lashes
Processing time will vary depending on the client's natural lash thickness, porosity, condition, and resistance.

Use the following as a guide only:

THIN / FINE LASHES
Step 1: 4–6 minutes
Step 2: 3–4 minutes
Best reference for fine, blonde, porous, or previously treated lashes.

MEDIUM LASHES
Step 1: 6–8 minutes
Step 2: 4–5 minutes
Suitable as a starting reference for average natural lashes.

THICK / RESISTANT LASHES
Step 1: 8–10 minutes
Step 2: 5–6 minutes
A starting reference for virgin, coarse, strong, or resistant lashes.

HOW TO CHECK LASH READINESS

Watch the lash — not just the timer.

Every 3–4 minutes, gently lift the Eye Processing Wrap and check a few lashes.

The lashes should become:

• Softer and more pliable
• Easier to manipulate
• Flexible with little to no resistance
• Visibly lighter as the hair begins to soften

If the lashes still feel firm or resistant, re-seal the Eye Processing Wrap and continue processing, checking regularly.

Once the lashes have reached the correct level of softness, proceed with removal.

REMOVING STEP 1

Remove Step 1 thoroughly and dry before proceeding to Step 2.

Ensure no Step 1 residue remains on the lashes before neutralizing.

PROFESSIONAL TIP

Processing times are guidelines, not fixed rules. Lash thickness, porosity, previous chemical treatments, product quantity, room conditions, and application technique can all affect processing.

If using Lift Balm Adhesive, processing may also vary depending on the amount of balm applied.

Always assess the lashes throughout the service and move to Step 2 based on lash readiness rather than the timer alone.

How do I know when Step 1 has finished processing?
Do not rely on timing alone. Check the lashes regularly throughout processing. When ready, the lashes should feel soft, flexible, and pliable with little to no resistance when manipulated. A visible lightening of the lash can also indicate that softening is taking place.

How long should Step 1 process?
Processing time depends on the client's lash thickness, porosity, condition, previous treatments, and resistance. As a general reference, fine lashes may require approximately 4–6 minutes, medium lashes 6–8 minutes, and thick or resistant lashes 8–10 minutes.

Always assess the lash rather than relying solely on the timer.

Should Step 1 be removed wet or dry?
Step 1 should be thoroughly removed dry before proceeding to Step 2. Ensure no Step 1 residue remains before beginning the neutralizing and setting phase.
